Enjoy :
Hitokiri is any one of numerous samurai in Japanese history who were amazingly strong and considered undefeatable by normal people. Hitokiri literally means "Person Slayer", but is better translated as assassin
One of the most famous Hitokiri was Kawakami Gensai, said to be totally undefeatable. Kawakami Gensai was the character model for Himura Kenshin in the anime Rurouni Kenshin.
Kawakami Gensai, one of the four great Hitokiri of the Bakumatsu, could be mistaken for a girl at first glance, but his nature was the complete opposite of his appearance; he was a cold, calculating man said to be the most terrible of the four
He was famous for cutting down Kuma Shouzan in broad daylight with his unique, lightning-fast Furanui style of Kenjutsu. Whether he was responsible for other assassinations is still a mystery. After the new era was brought in, his ideas about isolationism conflicted with that of the government?s, and he was tried on false charges and executed in the fourth year of the Meiji era (1871).
Furanui Kenjutsu was the style witch Hitokiri Gensai created. He learned some of the sword from Todoroki Muhe and learned bushido from Miyabe Teizo. Furanui Kenjutsu is not to confused with Kenshin Himura's Hiten Mitsurugi technique. There is no information that Hitokiri Gensai favored a fast draw technique but it is said that assasins favored this method of swordsmanship
Kawakami Gensai was one of the most famous Hitokiri (assassins or hit man) in Japanese history. He developed a very aggressive style of sword fighting where in he would basically run over his opponent and cut him down.
His appearance was meek and mild and it is said that many people thought he was a woman at first glance. This undoubtedly aided him in profession because if opponents were expecting a weakling they were certainly caught off guard. He was in truth a hard and ruthless killer with a cunning mind and a lightning fast sword.
The biggest part of his reputation came when he killed Kuma Shouzan in the middle of the day.
He was born Komori Genjiro, but changed his name after he was adopted by the Kawakami family to be raised as a priest. He was known to always remain calm in a difficult situation. There is one story about him remaining behind in a burning building as other fled. He managed to put the fire out and became a local hero to the town?s people.
Thinking that his nature was more suited to a warrior than a priest he began to study the sword and strategy, and even requested permission to travel abroad. He was a key figure in the overthrow of the Shogun Tokugawa Yoshinobu and the reinstatement of the Emperor. However he was an avid supporter of isolation and ran counter to what the Emperor wanted for the future of the country. He was brought up on false charges and executed in the fourth year of the Meiji era.
There is a popular anamited series, Rurouni Kenshin, who is based on his persona.
