Like in a dream, a young girl is falling from the sky. When she awakes after emerging from a huge cocoon, she`s in a new world, welcomed by a group of girls with wings on their back, given a halo floating over her head, as well as a new name - Rakka, for "The Fall", and growing her own wings soon after.


Rakka learns she`s a Haibane now, living in the human town of Guri (enclosed by walls) together with her new friends, and protected by the Haibane Renmei (alliance).


Who are the Haibane? Why did Rakka become a Haibane? Over time, Rakka will have to find the answers to these questions, and learn that Guri isn`t paradise.
