Recomandat

Si in paralel, The Borgias (hell, am si terminat cele 3 sezoane, waiting for the 4th one, ca de nu....)

Am auzit ca Transcendence n-ar fi asa spectaculos de vazut la cinema..

Godzilla 2014... it's alright. Ok, the other one made in the USA (1998) was also alright as far as I was concern at the time. This one is better, much better, but still not great, mostly because there is a lot of boring focus on humans, more problematic, it focuses on one human in particular, and he's so god damn boring. But the other stuff? Monster related stuff, it's great, it's very stupid at times, but so was Pacific Rim, the only problem is that there is, what feels like, a lot of boring in between the great, unlike Pacific Rim where there was always something interesting going on at all times so you wouldn't have times to go groan at cliches or question the plot.

Personally I also enjoy showing the monsters as acts of nature, unrelenting, unstoppable and just huge. 2/4 of the movie is filled with the monsters doing things in the backgrounds while the puny humans scurry about trying to survive, get out of the way, try without hope to stop them or just look in awe at the sheer power of the things. My personal favorite scene is the one SPOILER right after Godzilla is pushed through the bridge by the navy, and then it's seen in the background doing that while a bunch of tiny military boats are on their way to enact the plan. It's a combination of the clarity of it all (no Cloverfield shaky cam here folks), the fantastic soundtrack and the logic of it all. "When face with fear and the unknown the soldier will focus on his training, his mission, his training" I've read something like that in a book and it just brings a lot of realism to the scene. And there are a lot of scenes like that in the movie, half of them spoiled by trailers btw. Too bad they didn't cut all of the boring family drama and replace it with more scenes like that, I would have loved to see more of the armies attempts to tackle the monsters, there's really one scene where that is the focus of the scene (with full military might on display) and that one is kinda stupid. Most of the times the army gets wrecked off camera and while the 'walking in the aftermath' is enjoyable a few actual battles wouldn't have gone wrong.

To be fair, there is a plot reason while the army can't deal with the monsters SPOILER mainly because they emit EMP, but that's just a lame and illogical excuse to why we can't have battle scenes (And no, the planes falling out of the skies, while awesome, doesn't make up for it) . If you are wondering the EMP part is illogical because the monsters are supposed to be ancient, pre-dinosaur creatures, a time where pulses that disable electrical devices wouldn't have helped them at all, and thus have no reason to evolve them, but they come in awfully handy when faced with 21st century (hollywood stupid) armies against which they would have no way of evolving against. (Unless they are in fact ancient alien bio-weapons)

In short: Good movie, could have been better by removing the cliche one man's drama from it. Here's hopping for a better number 2.
